The Performance (alto and tenor) has a more traditional post-to-rib-to-body. The Performance have a detatchable bell. And the neck profile (other than the bore) is very different, very Selmer-like (if not a Selmer-copy). Keys are different, key cups are very different. Even the key touches are different.. For years now I have been meaning to develop an exercise index for the Universal Saxophone Method, by Paul DeVille. Over the past month I have finally gotten around to doing so. As an instructor I often use the Universal Method with my advancing students. I bought a tenor Z and was able to hear it against a Keilwerth SX 90R and 1950's vintage Mark VI- all instruments, including the Z, were played by two pro musicians. The Z in my opinion blew the SX90R and the Mark VI away. The Z is on top for resonance and projection.
